What is the ODU302, and how is it different from a standard indoor router?
The ODU302 is an industrial-grade outdoor 4G wireless router that integrates a high-performance router with high-gain cellular and Wi-Fi antennas in a single IP65-rated enclosure.
It can be mounted directly on top of ATMs, EV chargers, self-service terminals, or control cabinets, helping reduce the space, installation effort, and signal loss associated with cabinet-mounted routers, external antennas, and long RF feeder cables.
What are the typical applications for the ODU302?
Typical applications include:
- Financial self-service equipment, such as ATMs
- Smart energy equipment, such as outdoor EV chargers
- Self-service retail equipment, such as vending machines
- Outdoor industrial control cabinets
These applications typically require outdoor protection, compact installation, reduced feeder loss, fast deployment, dual-link or dual-SIM redundancy, and centralized remote management at scale.
What are the benefits of the all-in-one antenna and router design and “zero feeder loss”?
The ODU302 integrates the RF module and optimized built-in antennas into the same outdoor unit, eliminating the need for long coaxial feeder cables between an indoor router and external antennas.
This helps reduce feeder attenuation in high-frequency LTE applications, while also simplifying antenna selection, wall penetration, cabling, cabinet space requirements, and on-site installation.
“Zero feeder loss” refers specifically to the benefit of eliminating external long feeder cables. It does not mean that the wireless link is free from propagation loss or environmental interference. Actual performance still depends on factors such as carrier coverage, frequency bands, installation location, and surrounding obstructions.
Can the ODU302 use a single Ethernet cable for both power and data?
Yes. The ODU302 is an IEEE 802.3af-compliant PoE powered device (PD). Its LAN2 port supports both power and data transmission over a single Ethernet cable.
The device also supports 9–36 V DC input via an industrial terminal block, allowing users to choose the most suitable power option based on site conditions.
For PoE deployments, the power sourcing equipment, cable length, wire gauge, and voltage drop should still be checked against IEEE 802.3af requirements and actual installation conditions.
