Typical applications per the datasheet: self-service vending machines, unmanned supermarkets, self-service checkout terminals, smart express cabinets, smart charging cabinets, garbage recycling cabinets, and medical equipment.

The Ethernet port is disabled by default. Enable it from Settings: on Android 12 go to Network & internet > Ethernet, on Android 7.1 go to Settings > Ethernet, then turn on “Use Ethernet”. The port operates as WAN by default (DHCP, with an option for static IP); switch to LAN mode to use it for downstream devices (default LAN IP 192.168.1.100 ).

For Wi-Fi, connect the RP-SMA Wi-Fi antenna first, then Network & internet > Internet > Wi-Fi (Android 12) or Settings > Wi-Fi (Android 7.1). Select an SSID and enter the password.

For cellular, install the SIM in the Standard SIM slot and configure the APN at Network & internet > SIMs > Access Point Names (Android 12) or Settings > More > Cellular networks > Access Point Names (Android 7.1). ICMP detection is enabled by default — the device watches the link and auto-redials on failure; the target server and interval are configurable from the same menu.

Firmware upgrade — two methods:

  1. USB drive: rename the upgrade file to update.zip and copy it to a USB drive. Insert the drive, then go to Settings > System > Udisk system updates (Android 12) or Settings > About Tablet > Udisk system updates (Android 7.1). The system upgrades and reboots automatically.
  2. ADB broadcast (FOTA-style): copy update.zip to the device’s /sdcard directory, enable USB debugging in Developer Options, then run:

Install an APK: copy the APK file to a USB drive, insert into the device, open the file explorer, and tap the APK to install. On the first install, enable Unknown sources under Settings > Security.

To enable Developer Options on Android 12, tap Settings > About Tablet > Build number (after the multi-tap sequence on Android security patch level / Baseband version) until you see “You are now a developer.”
