What is the ER815 and what are its key capabilities?
The ER815 is InHand’s Advanced 5G SD-WAN Edge Router for high-throughput branch deployments. Key capabilities:
– 5G NR cellular (NSA + SA) with dual nano-SIM plus optional eSIM
– 1 Gbps total throughput + 300 Mbps IPsec VPN throughput
– Dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (up to 3 Gbps, 802.11ax)
– 5× Gigabit Ethernet with WAN/LAN switching and dual WAN
– SD-WAN via InCloud Manager (full feature set requires a Branch Professional license)
Cellular SKUs: global 5G (NRQ3), EU/APAC 5G (NRQ4), China 5G (NRQ2) or Cat 4 (LQ20), EU/APAC Cat 4 (FQ58), or no-cellular (EN00).
How do I set up and log in to the ER815 for the first time?
Install the cellular and Wi-Fi antennas, insert the SIM card (ER815 supports dual nano-SIM plus optional eSIM for failover), and connect the power adapter. Once the device boots, connect a computer via Ethernet to a LAN port. Set the adapter to DHCP or a 192.168.2.x static IP. Open a browser and go to http://192.168.2.1. Log in with the credentials printed on the device label.
How do I connect the ER815 to cellular and set the APN?
With the device powered off, insert the SIM card(s). Power on — the ER815 auto-detects the carrier and applies the matching APN in most cases, so no manual setup is needed. If the cellular link does not come up, log in, go to Internet 〉 Cellular, configure the APN for each SIM per your carrier’s requirements, and click Apply. For dual-SIM failover, configure both SIM profiles and set the link priority in Internet settings. Verify by checking the Network LED: steady green = cellular connected; blinking green = connecting; blinking red = disconnected.
How do I configure multi-uplink failover on the ER815?
The ER815 supports multiple WAN uplinks: dual nano-SIM cellular, optional eSIM, dual WAN Ethernet, and Wi-Fi client. Configure failover in three places under Internet:
1. Uplink Table — drag uplinks to set the priority order. The highest-priority enabled uplink is used while it stays healthy.
2. Uplink Setting > Link Detection — set up to two Detection Addresses (e.g., 8.8.8.8) and thresholds for latency, jitter, packet loss, and signal strength. When thresholds are exceeded, the active uplink is marked failed.
3. Link Backup > Failover Mode — choose the failover behavior (e.g., Delayed Switch with N seconds) for switching to the next-priority uplink.
