InHand Networks’ MG301-M Modular MASS Modem provides a cellular communication solution designed for smart meters with dedicated modem sockets. Unlike conventional external gateways, MG301-M can be installed directly into a compatible modular meter, allowing cellular connectivity to be integrated into the metering equipment without requiring a separate communication enclosure.
Once integrated, MG301-M establishes a communication link between the smart meter and the utility’s head-end system over the cellular network. Utility operators can remotely access meter readings and operating information, enabling centralized data collection and monitoring without visiting individual meter locations.
