High-Speed Network Coverage for Outdoor Dining Areas

Applications et cas

Points clés à retenir

Extend reliable 5G and Wi-Fi 7 connectivity to patios, terraces, beer gardens, and sidewalk dining areas. ODU12 helps restaurants support handheld POS tablets, reservation systems, guest Wi-Fi, digital menus, and outdoor service operations without costly fiber construction.

Arrière-plan

Restaurants increasingly rely on outdoor terraces, gardens, patios, and sidewalk seating to serve more guests and create better dining experiences. Staff use handheld POS tablets for ordering and payment, hosts manage reservations on tablets, and guests expect fast Wi-Fi for photos, reviews, mobile payments, and digital menus.

However, indoor access points often struggle to reach outdoor seating areas reliably, while running fiber or additional cabling to patios can be costly, disruptive, and difficult to schedule around business hours. Operators need an outdoor-ready connectivity solution that delivers stable network access for staff and guests without adding visible antenna clutter or complex installation work.

Exigences du client

Extend Service
Workflows Outdoors
Restaurants need staff ordering, payment, reservation, digital menu, and guest access workflows to function beyond the indoor network footprint, across patios, terraces, beer gardens, sidewalk seating, host stands, and outdoor bar areas.
Maintain Peak-Hour
Operations
Outdoor service areas must support business-critical devices during full-capacity lunch and dinner periods, when table turnover, payment speed, and reservation coordination directly affect revenue.
Avoid Disruptive
Construction
Operators need a clean outdoor installation that avoids trenching fiber, minimizes visible cabling and antenna clutter, and fits around normal restaurant operating hours.

Solution

ODU12 units can be wall or pole mounted around the restaurant exterior and powered through a single IEEE 802.3at PoE cable. Each unit uses 5G as backhaul and broadcasts Wi-Fi 7 BE5000 across patios, terraces, and garden seating areas, supporting up to 128 Wi-Fi clients per unit.

Multi-SSID can separate guest Wi-Fi from staff POS and reservation tablets, while WPA3 and firewall features help protect business traffic. The 2.5G LAN port can connect displays, local switches, camera gateways, or NVRs where needed.

Through InCloud Manager, restaurant operators, MSPs, or IT teams can monitor device status, review alerts, and manage distributed outdoor sites remotely.

IP65 protection, fanless passive cooling, wide operating temperature, and conformal-coated PCBA support reliable operation in outdoor dining environments.

Avantages

Faster Table Turnover
Staff can take orders and process payments anywhere in the outdoor dining area, reducing wait times and helping restaurants serve more guests during peak hours.
More Revenue from
Outdoor Seating
Reliable connectivity helps restaurants make full use of patios, terraces, and sidewalk seating instead of treating outdoor tables as a lower-service area.
Lower Deployment Cost
and Disruption
PoE power, 360° integrated antennas, and wall or pole mounting help reduce construction work, installation time, and disruption to restaurant operations.
Better Guest Experience
Fast guest Wi-Fi, digital menus, and smooth mobile payment support the connected dining experience customers expect and share online.
