The Systems Engineer/Product Specialist will be responsible for the development of system-level requirements and specifications for custom handheld and wireless products. This individual will function as the internal customer advocate and work to ensure the customer’s satisfaction with the delivered product.

Primary duties & responsibilities include:

• Take ownership of individual custom product requirements and drive product to completion throughout a multi-phased development process
• Work with customers and internal engineering teams to develop detailed specifications and requirements for handheld and wireless devices
• Create test plans and incorporate system-level requirements to measure compliance with requirements and to ensure quality
• Interface with customers regarding their requirements and needs
• Monitor project processes and procedures to ensure that system-level requirements are met
• Support sales and business development teams during the sales process with requirements analysis and project estimation
• Work with Project Management to synchronize system-level documents with cost budgets and schedules
• Perform system level electronic design including component selection/recommendation and interconnect diagrams.
• Perform and participate in schematics/design reviews
• Lead requirements reviews during the design phase
• Provide input and drive new product ideas and requirements
• Write manuals, case studies, proposals and white papers as required.

Skill & Experience Requirements:

• Familiarity with embedded systems
• Familiarity with board-level electronics design and/or embedded software development
• Must have familiarity with all aspects of the electronics design and project development cycle
• Must work well under deadline pressure.
• Must be highly organized, driven, self-motivated, and focused.
• Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
• Market-based customer project experience is preferred (co-op or project)
• Project/Team Lead experience a plus (co-op or project)
• Knowledge of handheld and wireless device standards a plus
• Knowledge of embedded system software design a plus
• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to write requirements documentation in a clear, easy to understand format.
• Strong understanding of general software development techniques and methodologies is preferred.
• Requires 20-40% travel, local and domestic
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or Systems Engineering required; MBA or MS a plus.
• US Citizenship required
