Rockville, MD (March 2, 2015) –InHand Electronics, Inc., a leader in low-power handheld and wireless device designs and an Internet of Things (IoT) innovator, today announces the development of their latest platform based on Freescale’s just announced i.MX 6SoloX processor: The InHand Fury-X. The SoloX is a heterogeneous multi-core ARM processor featuring Cortex-M4 and Cortex-A9 processor cores. These cores are utilized in tandem to run the InHand Fury-X’s gamut of peripherals while enabling optimized speed, power consumption, and peripheral security domains. In addition, the Fury-X offers: DDR3, NAND flash, real time clock, watchdog timer and a wide range of standard on-board peripherals.
Peripherals on the Fury-X include: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, USB 2.0 OTG, four USB 2.0 Hosts, 10/100/1000 Ethernet, analog and digital camera inputs, a battery charger, and LVDS video output. Options include Wi-Fi, GPS, and memory. A mini PCIe slot accommodates additional expansion and connectivity, including cellular modems and 802.15.4 radios. A carrier board offers additional peripherals including display and touchscreen control, analog input signal conditioning circuitry, and a second Ethernet connection that can be configured as gigabit Ethernet or Power-over-Ethernet. The SoloX processor includes an Ethernet switch which allows the Fury-X to be used as a network hub.
Additionally, The Cortex-M4 core enables real-time control with low power consumption while running a real-time operating system (RTOS) such as MQX*. The Cortex-A9 core, running Linux or Android, manages external network and graphics communications and may be powered down when not in use to conserve power. Freescale’s SoloX also contains security features that allow networked operation while providing data security. The combination of power, design, connectivity, and peripheral options of the Fury-X was created to optimize the system for use in wireless communication devices, feeding the demand for the growing Internet of Things market.
